Weight loss, health gain

November 13, 2012

I read that adults here in USA have one of the highest obesity rates in the world, nearly a third of adults 20 years and older are obese, while about two-thirds are overweight, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. This because this country has all the resources that allow people to get fat and lazy. Obesity is a growing health problem in USA despite the availability of healthful foods and regular exercise opportunities, most of us especially me eat TOO MUCH of the unhealthy stuff and get far too little exercise. I call my losing weight diet plan as ‘eating the right food habit’. Before, I thought that diet programs are for those with superficial views of life, people who are very conscious of themselves because they thought that they don’t have anything else to show to others, thus, focus on the superficial aspect - how to look good. I am overweight of 25lbs for my ideal 115lbs. It's quite hard especially giving up coffee, rice, pasta, sweets but when you got used with it, you wouldn’t feel deprive of something because you substitute better and nutritious foods. I can say that there is a development in me, I cope up and will still do it - ‘eating the right stuff’. I consider this as a journey of progress instead of perfection. I don’t intend to have jlo’s body because I think more of health gain than weight loss. We don’t need to say ‘I don’t have time yet for diet programs/gym/exercise’ because what it really meant was ‘ I have not made it a priority’. Now, I have given it a priority, to stay healthy so that i will live longer for the sake of my son.
