My Big Day!

I might be spending my big day alone 'coz hubby is going for work & it might be a 24 hrs shift since he's on-call. Anyways, how to celebrate one's birthday alone? Thank you for the technology that Facebook was created, through it I feel closer to home (family & friends). I refer to eHow site on how to celebrate it alone.

Decide what you're in the mood for. Not every person is the same, and not every birthday should be celebrated in the same way. If you're in a celebratory mood, consider taking off work and planning the whole day as a celebration. If you feel depressed or prefer to simply forget about the day, you may be better off pretending is a day like any other and keeping up with your normal daily routine.

Buy yourself a drink. This could be an actual drink, like a glass of champagne, or it could be a cup of coffee at a gourmet place you like or one you have been meaning to try for a long time. If you don't feel like going anywhere, you can still have a drink at home, while watching a movie or surfing the Internet.

Buy yourself a present. This is especially important on a year where you're alone and won't be receiving presents from others. Think of something you have really wanted for a long time and then get it. No matter what your budget is, there is always something you can get, from a small candle to a new DVD player.

Go to a show, buy tickets to the theater or take a road trip to a nearby town. Avoid just going to the movie theater or window shopping. Instead, do something more active, where noise and people are involved. This will take your mind off the situation and help you enjoy your time out more.

Consider leaving town for a couple of days. If you can't afford the time or expense of taking a vacation, just book a night at a nice bed and breakfast within driving distance. Treat yourself to a nice lunch and then spend the afternoon strolling the unknown streets.

Ok, I got it. Will borrow some DVDs, prepare spaghetti, buy a cake, ice-cream, have a webchat with my mom & dad. Then indulge for just a day!
