This is part of JCrew Ad that earned some criticism because the designer son's toenails were painted with pink nail polish. I thought it's ok because they are trying to impart the bonding between mom and son. They can do anything that is fun, they can be silly, muddy, fashionable and flirty too. I don't see the ad as promoting other preference. It doesn't follow that when you dress up a boy with girls clothing, he would grow up confused. I did once to my son, putting ribbons and my accesories on him, it's just being playful. For me, the ad is fine and JCrew succeeded on their purpose, to make a buzz.
