My son loves the word 'octagon' and I love the way he pronounces the word. Sometimes whenever I'm teaching him some new words, I imagine the look on his face, kinda confused because her mommy's diction is kinda awful, lol! Yup, I have this rough / hard diction that I'm so conscious about especially when I'm communicating with someone other than my hubby and Pinay friends. It's like before I utter the word, I'm already thinking how to pronounce it which causes delay on the spontaneity of the conversation. I can express my thoughts easily and quickly through writing compared to conversing. But, don't get me wrong in here, I don't have the speech defect, I'm just so conscious because of experiences hearing other people speaking the way I do. One example, we were in a diner restaurant and I ordered Taco Dinner, the waitress asked me, what do you want your taco, something like that. I replied 'FLOR' and I recall her reaction with what I said, and then she gave me the two options, CORN or FLOUR. Therego, I should not say my friends name FLOR, it should be pronounced as FLAUR (or quick/abbreviated pronounciation of Flower). LOL!
